SAT-I: Reasoning Test The SAT-I is a three hour, primarily multiple-choice test that measures verbal and mathematical reasoning abilities that develop over time. Most colleges require SAT-I scores for admission. SAT consists of three sections:
Critical Reading section includes three scoring sections – two 25 minutes sections, and one 20 minutes section. It includes reading comprehension–short and long passages, and sentence completion exercises.
Writing section of SAT includes multiple choice questions and a brief essay. The essay sub score contributes about 30% towards the total writing score, with the multiple choice questions contributing 70%.
The mathematics section of SAT is widely known as the Quantitative Section or Calculation section. The mathematics section consists of three scored sections. There are two 25 minute sections and one 20 minute section Students can use scientific and graphical calculators for the quantitative section of SAT.
Test Scores: Each section of your SAT (Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing) is scored on a 200 to 800 point scale, for a possible total of 2400. The SAT-II subject tests are one hour, primarily multiple-choice tests that measure your knowledge of particular subjects and your ability to apply that knowledge.
